I remember growing up, Sundays in Mahaut was all about football.

We would go the teeza playing field all ready to support our teams. Man those days were golden.

But yesterday the young team brought the nation’s cup trophy to the village when they defeated the Northern Concrete & Steel Bombers team out of Portsmouth.

I was not there to witness the victory but listened on the radio and I felt excited and proud for the team. In an interview with Dominica News Online captain of the Soca Strikers team, Jerren Sebastian said, “hard work was the key to our success…we won the First Division and said that our goal was to win the Nation’s Cup and we have achieved it, we are proud and happy doing it all on our own without a coach or anyone in management.”

Just last week I said to one of the members of the team “so are you all ready to win the championship this weekend?” He said well we want it so we have to just go out and play for it”.. and that they did.

So congrats to the guys of the Mahaut Soca Strikers on capturing the Nation’s Cup Title.

🎉🎉🎉🎉 GREAT JOB GUYS !!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
