I have not shared a recipe in so long because I have not baked in so long. But today I wanted to share a recipe even without having baked anything because it’s been a while.
Today I share with you all the recipe that I use when making my delicious Red Velvet Cake. This is by far the best red velvet cake I have had and is one of my favourite cakes to make, so I am hoping you are able to give this recipe a try.
So here goes…
You are going to need
½ cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
1 ½ cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk*
2 tablespoons (one 1-oz. bottle) red food color
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened Cocoa
1 teaspoon salt
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
1 tablespoon white vinegar
* In the absence of butter milk you can use sour milk. To sour milk: Use 1 tablespoon white vinegar plus milk to equal 1 cup
Here is what you do:
Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 13×9-inch baking pan. **
Beat butter and sugar in large bowl; add eggs and vanilla, beating well. Stir together buttermilk and food color. Stir together flour, cocoa and salt; add alternately to butter mixture with buttermilk mixture, mixing well. Stir in baking soda and vinegar. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Frost; garnish with chocolate chips, if desired.
**Cake can also be baked in two greased and floured 9-inch round baking pans. Bake at 350 F. for 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted
Frost using cream cheese or buttercream frosting. To add some extra “decor”.. use crumbs of cake and place all around on frosting. (may bake this soon and will add a few pics to this post since I was unable to find some of the photos I had already saved)
Enjoy !!!!
Until Next Time Lovies
xoxo
