It has been so long since I have written a natural hair post… the past week has been so difficult because we have no water all week –😩the struggles. . Plus it has been raining constantly, so going outside to wash has not been possible. And I must start everything else I plan to do , and share with you all, with that wash. But I am patient so please bear with me guys.

But anyhow, I was just going through and finally packing up the products that I recently purchased and came across the hair colour.. to see more on that haul you can click here to view. I had somehow forgotten I bought that hair colour because I had already made up my mind that I was no longer going to use it

Why you may ask… for a few reasons

1. I love my hair. And that means loving it no matter what the colour. I have realised that loving my hair means accepting the changes it may go through -naturally- and just adjusting to those changes

2. I am afraid. I, honestly, feel afraid to apply the hair colour to my hair. I am afraid of damaging my hair for the simple reason of wanting it to be a colour that I had before, and it may very well turn out to be different than what I want and expect. I am afraid that if I do apply the colour it will damage my hair to the point of having to cut it, and I do not want to have to cut my hair.

3. The colour is growing on me. hahaha. I am actually getting used to the hints of brown that has been present in the hair. Like one of my followers mentioned, it adds a little dimension to the hair and I certainly agree with that plus it looks real cute in a twistout. So the colour is not as bad as I thought it was. Go figure

4. Finally, and most importantly – My daughter. My main reason for choosing to no longer colour my hair is my daughter. Her natural hair colour is more brown than black, and if I were to colour my hair because of a few spots of brown in it what message would I be sending to her? I want, and teach, her to love her hair exactly the way it is so that means showing her by example that our hair is beautiful. And that it is beautiful no matter the texture, length or natural colour.

So of all the products I bought that’s the one thing I wont be sharing an experience on with you all. Thanks to all of you who encouraged me to keep my current colour and not go ahead with the colour that I purchased. I really appreciate you all.

Until Next Time Lovies

  1. For a while I’ve been considering dyeing my hair to a brighter colour, just want to step out of my comfort zone and try a bright colour lol. However not with a box dye but with Henna. I am still contemplating on it. But you are definitely right, loving your hair in its true natural state is really important. 👍
