Let me tell you all, I was on fire at mass this morning… the Lord’s fire was burning in me this morning and my body was so covered in his power. Have you ever felt that way? That feeling that your whole being is just hot with flame and the more you hear the word and sing praise the hotter you feel?? Today was another of those days me.
And today we heard about mission… our mission as Christians.
We can say that the church has a mission, and Matthew lays the foundation for that mission when he said in Chapter 28 verse 19 “Go and make disciples of all nations”.
Father Karam put it most fittingly today when he said . . .
“The Church does not only have a mission. .. the Church is mission and there is no Christian with no mission.
By the fact that our name is Christian we live to teach, preach and call the name of Jesus Christ. We should constantly say “I have a mission”. A mission to proclaim the good news of Jesus as He touches my heart, touches my life, touches my family and touches my household.
Mission is not an option. It is a duty and is part of who we are. We can choose to either be faithful to that mission or neglect it. But our lives and the life of the community will change for the better if we follow our mission.”
His preaching today touched me personally because I am on mission… I have faltered and I have fallen short but I always remember that my mission is to go out and be a light in the world. I have so often allowed others to distract me from that mission and have so often questioned myself because of how others may see me or treat me. But in the end the Will of God prevails and gives me the assurance that His power will guide me in my faith journey.
“Through our weekly gatherings at mass we gather in order to be strengthened and are encouraged to go out and preach and proclaim to others and there is much need to start talking more about our faith” (Fr. Karam)
So today we continue as Christians on our mission as we go out to preach and teach and bring the message of Christ to all we meet.
So we remind ourselves everyday that. . .
. . . I am on a mission on the earth
