Today’s post is late because we were not home and the data and Wi-Fi were off in the area that we were.   It has been pouring rain for the past few days and the weather does not lend too well to the service.  But I actually did not miss being online.  Following church we went to my patents house for lunch and some wonderful and delicious goat soup.  Did I say it was delicious? hahaha we all had two servings that’s how delicious it was.

You know, being off for a few hours was actually a good thing because it gave me time to just live.  We talked, ate, drank, laughed and just chilled.

But I remember something from church that stuck with me.

But Jesus rebuked it saying “Be quiet! Come out of him!” (Mark 1:25)

Today’s Gospel reading told us about Jesus casting out the unclean spirit from a man he had encountered in Capernaum. Listening to the preaching following the gospel made me realize there are so many demons that we can cast out daily. Like Father Karam put it, “it is not the superstitious beliefs that we have to hold on to, we have to cast out the everyday ills that are among us”

The evils that keep us from being a Christian community united with one another.  so we should say be quite to the cursing we hear; be quiet to the mistrust; be quiet to the wrong authority

It is understanding our roles as Christians we are able to go out with authority and speak the word.
