“Before God and all mankind I pledge allegiance to the flag of the Commonwealth of Dominica …”

The first lines of our National Pledge…

Something that always rings so true for me especially when I daily choose to remain a resident citizen of this beautiful country..

Don’t get me wrong, there are many days when I wish I were somewhere else and have thought of migrating a number of times in recent months.. But in the end there is always something that keeps my heart and my feet planted on this soil..

Dominica has been my home and have allowed me to grow into the woman I am today.  My ever loving family, my rich cultural background, my rich heritage and history and my love for the natural beauty of this land are just some of the many things that keep me captivated.

I always do my best to showcase the beauty of this lovely island not just through photos but in words as well.  Read  My Island Dominica to see just a little of my many words about this beautiful land.

But today May 16 2017, through the initiative of a few young people on island we are making Dominica trend more than ever before… Through using the tag #Dominica the aim is to spread the beauty of our beautiful island all over social media.

I applaud this initiative highly and hope that through it we are able to build a stronger appreciation of the beauty of our land.. And with this initiative I am hopeful that the tag will become a daily part of our sharing on social media.. So share those beautiful photos and words and show how proud we are to be Dominican.

So in summary I say…

#myisland #ourland #thenatureisle #myhomeland

The sun peaks through as it rises over the mountains on my beautiful island
Beautiful floral and fauna grace every inch of our land
Land where I can grow what I eat

I can grow in my yard the fruits considered exotic to some
“Veo” – One of many foods we enjoy

  2. YAAS! No matter how our dollar may fluctuate, how often the politicians may lie or the high crime… my home is my home.
I feel there is something great in being born in the Caribbean, you feel more special, more privileged, more full of life and vitality than anywhere else in the world
